  • Newscan Config mod for Enigma 1/2

    Hi all, it's my first attempt at a mod for Enigma 1/2 BBS, was hoping some folks might look at it, give some feedback. Def back up any data, etc. before testing :)

    WHAT IT IS: Enigma doesn't have a built-in way to configure which message areas are scanned for the 'new scan' action. It's listed a 'mod opportunity' in the docs. I thought, well, why not try creating this yourself? So I did!

    I studied core js code examples inside Enigma and tried to use all the 'native' methods/patterns (view controller, MCI codes, etc.). I did utilize Claude for a bit of the solutiong and doc writing. I've got some js/node experience, but this was def. a learning experience!

    Any testers?

    Yes!! I'm working on it now. I've decided to move off Talisman, it's a great system but it's just time for a change, i dig open source and actively developed projects.

    I went down some rabbit holes with DOS and OS/2 based systems, but in the end, I was drawn (back) to Enigma. It's a really great and open system.

    But.. it's been taking a bit of elbow grease to get something that's more unique and non-stock, so just taking my time with art, mods, etc.

    Hi J0hnny,

    My BBS is currently running on Mystic, but I find Enigma 1/2 quite interesting. And since it also runs on node.js and I'm currently working with node.js, that's interesting.

    What I also find unfortunate is that the admin cannot delete local posts or the author, at least one hour after creating the message. Although I put it forward as an idea, I didn't understand why this shouldn't work. Maybe you would like to? ;)

    I'll get back to you with the test result.
