These are whaty we have, too -- tyhe new ones have a bay behind the driver where I back in against a padded shock bumper & no straps needed. Much more independent & speeds the buses up, especially in rush hour.

Yep, graduated from HS in 1968.

I was 16 months old then, in June-1968. No memories of that year, but a few the year after, when i was 2. . .

I have a memory or two of pre-two year old that is stuck in my brain.

My main block of memories begin when I was 5. . .

Mine is around three or four, but only a glimmer of something.
Off hand, one is being fascinated by windshield wipers.
One time I was around four and on the hood and moving them back and forth with my mother yelling from the door to leave them alone, I was going to
break them.
Then later being in the car in a downpour and her wipers flies off and
she saying "I told you were going to break it".
I have no memory of getting on the hood, what I did afterward, etc.
That's what I referred to when I mentioned a glimmer of a memory.

Same here; but the last hook-based system isn't bad. The chair is backerd up againsta bumper, them there are two hooks on hreavy duty cables on a vacum cleaner cord-like pulley so judst yank & hook one, two. . done.

Getting them off can be a pain, as the driver's maniacal speeding around corners tends to twist the chair a bit, tightening the connections.

If the driver listens to me, we get me out in quick time, as I know the tricks by now.

She seldom mentioned anything in particular about what I did as a kid.

That was our original system. The straps often got twisted up in side the return
asswmblies, so difficult to deploy(& lots of lost time in rush hhour, usually); the new hooks system isso uch faster & more reliable.

A-to-B & I'm happy.

Or even A to A & 3/4 & I can wheel the rest.

When I first moved out here into the 'burbs, it was great, I hads a bus pick me up just outside my place, dropped me off a half block from work; coming home, I wheeled 5 minutes & took the train to a st9op- where the same bus picked me up &
dropped me across the street from home, with an air-conditioned ride (I'd tilt my
chair back & sleep on the way home, after a busy 12-hour shift)

Now it's more complicated,but a similar total time, if I have to go downtown, but
my job is all online now.
